A new approach to exhibiting
Gunnebo’s exhibiting history followed a familiar pattern: high-impact but high-waste, with a single-use approach that didn’t align with their sustainability goals. For Passenger Terminal Expo in Frankfurt, they wanted something different – something that could showcase their products in real-world scenarios while significantly reducing their environmental impact.
They chose Tecna for our industry-leading sustainability credentials, including ISO 20121 certification and ESSA Tier 5 accreditation, and for our ability to turn sustainability ambition into measurable action. From the very first meeting, they fully embraced our strategic mitigation approach, embedding sustainable thinking into every phase, from concept to on-site delivery.
Designing for impact, minimising footprint
The challenge? Creating a spacious, interactive stand that seamlessly integrated Gunnebo’s security products while maintaining a minimal carbon footprint. With a product range designed for high-security environments, realism was key, and visitors needed to experience the gates and barriers just as they would in an airport or transport hub.
This required meticulous planning, particularly when it came to flooring. We designed bespoke integration points, embedding Gunnebo’s products flush with the stand surface while discreetly housing all operational wiring and mechanisms. The result was an incredibly smooth demo experience, the best Gunnebo had ever had at a live event.
To reinforce the brand’s premium positioning, we developed a VIP airport lounge concept, using carefully curated materials, lighting, and furniture to set the tone. Every detail was considered, not just for aesthetics, but for sustainability. We maximised the use of our modular, reconfigurable framework, opted for recycled plastic flooring, and used energy-efficient LED lighting to keep power consumption low.
Measuring success
The event was a huge success. The stand delivered exceptional engagement, seamless product demonstrations, and a high level of post-show interest, not just in Gunnebo’s products, but in their approach to sustainable exhibiting.
Tecna’s detailed carbon report provided a transparent breakdown of the stand’s environmental impact, demonstrating how our rigorous planning had dramatically reduced emissions and waste. Gunnebo took this a step further, sharing the report and our joint mitigation strategies across their social media channels, amplifying the conversation around sustainable exhibiting.
A blueprint for the future
This project wasn’t just about delivering a stand. It was about setting a new standard for how Gunnebo exhibits. By embracing a sustainable, modular, and reconfigurable approach, they’ve paved the way for smarter, lower-impact exhibiting in the future.
And the best part? This is just the beginning. With every project, the insights and learnings continue to grow, ensuring Gunnebo’s exhibitions remain both high-impact and low-carbon for years to come.
